Field Rules
The contest field shall be a regulation football field with five-yard lines and hash marks.
There will be six (7) judges-1 for Music, Marching, Music Effect, Visual Effect, Percussion, Band Front, and drum major.
All bands will be scheduled at 15 minute intervals.
Bands may enter the field of competition with a drum cadence.
The only permissible sound upon exit is a drum tap.
Performance position within each class will be determined by application postmark, with the earliest postmark performing last.
Classification is determined by a natural break in the number of woodwind instruments.
A band may enter a larger class but not a smaller one. Competition chairman will determine classification.
If a band moves classes following the initial registration, the registration date will change to the date of notification, and the performance schedule will be changed accordingly.
The band score will be the total of the Music Effect 15 points, Music (40 points), Marching (30 points), Music Effect (15 points) and Visual Effect (15 points)
for a total of 100 possible points.
The ranges for ratings will be as follows:
· 85 - 100
· Superior
· 70 - 85
· Excellent
· Below 70
· Quality
Ties for places in Class and Overall will be broken as follows:
Caption scores will be compared in the following order until a difference is found: Music, then Marching, then General Effect. If all the scores are tied, duplicate trophies will be awarded.
Trophies will be awarded to all Band Fronts, Drum Major, and Drum Lines placing first in their class. There will be ratings trophies for all bands that do not place.
There will be a First, Second, and Third Place in each class. There will be a Silver Division Champion and a Gold Division Champion. There will be an overall Champion, regardless of class.
At the conclusion of the last performance, each band will send its Drum Major and chosen students to the center of the field for the Awards Ceremony. We request that these students be in uniform. The band director may accompany them.
A fence encloses our field. There is not sufficient access for a large number of people to enter the field safely in a short amount of time. Please inform your students of this. Instruct them not to run onto the field at end of the ceremony.
